Singer, actress, composer and activist, Abbey Lincoln has left her mark on the history of jazz.

More than just a voice, she charted an increasingly rich spiritual and aesthetic course throughout her career. Marion Rampal, intimately influenced by this great lady of a thousand lives and a thousand hats, will be celebrating these marvels with her musicians. Alongside some of her best-known and lesser-known songs, they will be mixing adaptations and compositions, satellite pieces that shed light on Abbey's musical roots and loves. Far from a conventional tribute reaching for the stars, Song For Abbey is a gesture of living memory that seeks to invoke and share the spirit of an immense artist, one who saw jazz as the form most conducive to what she called "the construction of character".
