DEF MAMA DEF is the brand new ‘girl power’ project led by two artists from Dakar and Saint-Louis, Mamy Victory and Defa.
While the group's roots, in terms of melodies and themes, are firmly Senegalese, it remains open and enriched by international urban musical influences. With their compositions combining the sharpness of rap with the melody of pop, these two queens of the city are as powerful with their voices as they are with their eccentric and chic stage performances. To further enhance their performances, the duo is accompanied on stage by their musical architect and artistic director Baay Sooley, former member of the legendary band Positive Black Soul.
Oh Maliko, their first production, combines the wild and contagious rhythms of Amapiano with the powerful beats and fluidity of hip-hop, while infusing the rich cultural sounds of Senegal. The result is a fresh, dynamic and energetic sound that is guaranteed to get crowds moving and grooving.
